Module 1: Lesson 8
Mindfulness Practice 5 Senses Meditation
Welcome to our first meditation!
If you have never done a mediation before, you owe it to yourself to try it because it’s a powerful way to take care of your mind, just like you take care of your body. Meditation can help you find calm amidst chaos, reduce stress, and bring a sense of clarity to your thoughts. It’s a simple practice that can lead to big changes—helping you feel more present, less overwhelmed, and more in control of your emotions. You deserve the chance to experience that kind of peace and well-being.
This meditation helps shift the way you experience food—from something automatic to something intentional and respectful—encouraging a healthier relationship with food and minimizing waste.
As you go through this meditation, focus on each of your senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch—to become fully present with the food. This heightened awareness helps you appreciate the textures, colors, and aromas often overlooked.
Engaging your senses encourages mindful eating, where you slow down and savor each bite, reducing waste and overconsumption. You’ll also develop greater gratitude and respect for the journey food takes to your plate.
By fully immersing in the sensory experience, you may evoke emotions or memories, deepening your connection to food and inspiring more thoughtful use of ingredients.
While Margot does an outstanding job of guiding us through it, you may also find the Guide for New Meditators helpful if you've never participated in a mindfulness exercise before.
Both the guide and the meditation itself are linked below. We hope you have a wonderful experience -- and if this was a brand-new experience for you, head over to the Facebook group and let us know how it went!

Here is What's Coming Next
Next up, we'll continue our meditation practice, deepening it by picking up where we left off today.
We'll use another visualization exercise called 'Into the Garden,' where you'll use your senses to heighten your connection with nature and all the gifts it provides.
Think of it as a few minutes just for you—to hit reset and fill yourself with positivity.
