Module 2: Lesson 8

Stretching Freshness

In Module 2, you learned about FIFO, ethylene, and storing techniques to help reduce food waste. Today, I'm excited to share some lesser-known cheffie hacks that will take your mindful foodie game to the next level.

Many people feel guilty when throwing away perfectly good food, but that guilt can contribute to stress and negativity in our lives. Addressing these emotions is key to the MMK Method—bringing positivity into all areas of our lives.

Keeping produce fresh is like the thrill of scoring an amazing deal. Imagine the satisfaction of pulling out broccoli from two shopping trips ago, still fresh and vibrant. You’ll want to share that win! By preserving produce longer, you’re not only avoiding waste but honoring the resources that went into it.

As you make these practices part of your routine, meal planning and cooking will become easier and more enjoyable. We’ve included a download with simple kitchen hacks to help. Instead of using them all at once, try incorporating them slowly, and soon they’ll become second nature. I can't resist sharing one hack right now—it’ll save you money and reduce waste!

That's a wrap on Module 2! Next up, we’ll dive into Module 3: Planning and Shopping.  You will find out that when you combine meal planning with mindful shopping, you're creating a more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable approach to both cooking and food waste management. This connection between the two helps you stay organized, make smarter decisions, and enjoy a more intentional, satisfying experience in the kitchen.See you there!
