We're two women who adore food and are fueled by our passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and the world we live in. Our mission is to spread the joy of delicious, nutritious meals and to inspire everyone to make mindful food choices. These choices help us nourish our bodies, save money and safeguard our food system for future generations. 

Our love for food, family, community, and the environment led us to create My Mindful Kitchen (MMK). Through MMK, we share tools, methods, and easy strategies to help busy folks like you make mindful food choices that will have you feeling good.  Welcome to the community!

Hi, I'm Janet Irizarry


After a 30-year career in the restaurant industry, one could say I've gained extensive knowledge about food. However, I recently realized there was a missing ingredient: Mindfulness. When I began to incorporate it, my enjoyment of food hit a whole new level. I found that when I applied mindfulness to food, it went beyond saving money or promoting healthy eating—it seemed almost magically to help me align with my innate values of gratitude, caring for others and kindness to the environment.

Values I had found that throughout life I still held but seemed to get lost in my actions along the way. But as I became more aware of my food choices found an unexpected joy in becoming more aligned with my values and find it is an incredible feeling. One I want to share! Find the joy of mindfulness that nourishes a sustainable lifestyle which at the same time lets you nurture others and the planet. All of this becomes accessible when you engage in the MMK method.

As a mindful foodie, I believe in the transformative power of food to unite, inspire, and create positive change. From my adventures exploring global flavors to my commitment to mindfulness in all aspects of life, I see food as more than just sustenance – it's a gateway to connection and creativity.

By being mindful in my interactions and choices, I strive to make a meaningful impact on the world around me, starting with the food I choose to prepare and consume. Each bite carries the potential to nourish not only the body but also the soul, fostering harmony and wellbeing. 

I’m passionate about MMK because it empowers us to make positive choices whose impact ripple outward: spreading joy, compassion, and sustainability across the table and beyond.
