They Are Never Just Leftovers: They are next week’s meals waiting to happen

ree

I hope you’re heading into this summer weekend feeling connected, joyful, and ready to savor some well-earned downtime — whether that means a backyard BBQ with friends, a casual picnic, or just putting your feet up after cooking for the people you love.

Summer gatherings are some of the best times to come together, but they can also come with high expectations (remember when everyone posted their perfect grill spreads?).

Here’s a gentle reminder: connection beats perfection, every single time.

So, what about after the BBQ? That half-eaten veggie platter, the mountain of grilled corn, the extra burgers or chicken — they’re not a burden. They’re bonus meals. A chance to save time, waste less, and get a little creative.

If you find yourself swimming in leftovers after a weekend with friends and family, lean in and have fun seeing how it all comes together. Here are a few of my favorite ways to turn “just leftovers” into something new:

  • BBQ Remix Salad: Chop up leftover grilled meats or veggies, toss with fresh greens, and drizzle with your favorite dressing.

  • Second Chance Snack Board: Let everyone pick a few leftover bites to build their own no-cook snack plate (a quick warm-up is fine too).

  • Grilled Veggie Pasta: Chop leftover grilled veggies and toss with pasta, olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs for an easy summer meal.

  • Breakfast Frittata: Sauté leftover veggies and any leftover meat, then fold it into a simple frittata.

However, you use them — tossed in a salad, stuffed in a wrap, or eaten straight from the fridge — you’re not just making life easier, you’re stretching the good summer vibes a little longer.

They’re not just leftovers. They’re the encore to your weekend!
